THREE DAY WORKSHOP:
Saturday, September 14, 2024 | 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM Saturday, September 21, 2024 | 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM Saturday, October 5, 2024 | 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM
The Trauma Resiliency Model (TRM)® Level 1 is a three-day educational course designed specifically for clinicians who work with both children and adults suffering from traumatic stress reactions. TRM® delves into the biological underpinnings of fear and threat, highlighting the body's instinctive defense responses in dangerous or life-threatening situations. This approach advocates for the understanding of trauma symptoms as normal biological reactions rather than as signs of pathology or mental frailty. TRM employs a mind-body approach to foster resilience and help restore balance to both the body and the mind after traumatic events. This model reframes trauma symptoms as biological responses to extraordinary situations, thereby moving away from viewing them as pathological. By normalizing these symptoms, TRM® aims to alleviate associated feelings of shame and self-blame. It promotes the view that these symptoms are attempts by the body to regain equilibrium in the nervous system. TRM’s philosophy supports a more compassionate and understanding view of those experiencing trauma. By the end of this training, you will be equipped with practical skills and knowledge to support your patients better and integrate a somatic/biological approach into your clinical practice. The training is a supportive combination of lecture, discussion and small group practice, providing a comfortable and encouraging environment for your learning.
