Marhya Kelsch, LCSW is a licensed psychotherapist in California and Colorado with over fifteen years in practice. She is passionate about the positive impact therapy has on emotional, spiritual, relational, and physical health when implemented in a thoughtful way.
Applying a patient-centered approach, Marhya provides a practical therapeutic experience guided by client values, belief systems, and goals. Marhya’s practice style is nondirective, sex positive, and strength based—with the intent to assist clients in rediscovering their inner wisdom and moving towards their life’s ambitions with acceptance and adaptation.
Serving a diverse population of clients in the LGBTQ community, Trans patients, retirees, and people struggling with psychosis, chronic health problems, and mental health conditions, Marhya uses tools form expressive arts, trauma informed care, and innovative therapies. She integrates her formal trainings with teachings from Shinzen Young, Pema Chödrön, existential therapy, Laingian psychiatry, and provocative therapy to bring forth dynamic options, tools, and opportunities to bridge the gap between where patients are and where they want to be.
She has completed training in trauma informed care, LGBTQ competent care, transgender care, EMDR, HearthMath, WRAP, sex education, mindfulness, and expressive arts.
With 21 years in the mental health field, her professional history includes a broad range of experiences across inpatient, day program, residential, outpatient, hospital, in home and crisis response settings. She is a member of WPATH, CAMFT, San Leandro Art Association, and Nebraskans for Peace.
