2018

October 19 – Gordon Wong MD, MPH – “Marijuana, Health Risks and Benefits.” Dr. Wong is a psychopharmacologist in Menlo Park. Marijuana is now legal in California so this program will help clinicians better respond to patients in light of this change.

November 16 – Deborah Abraham MFT – “Applications for Mindfulness in Clinical Practice.” Deborah will be focusing on the treatment of anxiety, depression and emotional distress using this approach.

December 1 – All day Law and Ethics Program. Thomas Plante PhD will be presenting ”Ethics and Legal Issues in Mental Health Care.” This workshop will highlight and update contemporary ethical, legal and professional issues encountered in mental health services. Dr. Plante is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist, scholar, clinician, professor and former Chairman of the Dept. of Psychology at Santa Clara.  This program will be 6 CEUs starting at 8:30AM to 4:00PM at PAMF.

February 6  -- Social at a member’s home – 6PM.

March 15 – Social Work Month – We will honor Chet Villalba’s contribution to our California Society for Clinical Social Work as well as his contribution to the Social Work profession. Geri Goldman LCSW will present “The Clinician/Mother: Impact of the Personal on the Professional.” This is based on the PhD dissertation from the Sanville Institute.

April 19  -- Catherine Phillips LCSW will present “Closeness and Distance in Adult Relationships Based on Early Infant Studies.”

May 17 – Paula Wolfson LCSW will present “Challenges in Care Giving with Older Adults.” Paula is Social Work Services Manager at Avenidas, Palo Alto.

Friday meetings are held at Palo Alto Medical Foundation, 795 El Camino Real, Palo Alto. The meeting room is on the third floor next to the café with free parking below the building. Take the main elevator. Meeting time is 12:00 – 2:00PM with the first 15 minutes reserved for signing in and networking.  The presentation starts at 12:15PM following announcements. 1.5 CEUs will be offered for LCSWs, MFTs and LPCCs per meeting as required by the BBS. Members earn credits at no cost. Credits for non-members are $15 per meeting plus $10 meeting entrance fee.
