Presenter: Nancy Haug
The presentation will include an overview of the Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) model of intervention which includes six core therapeutic processes. She will discuss how ACT can help clients recover from major life losses, including grief and loss experienced during the global pandemic. Practical ACT strategies and clinical tools will be explained with a focus on mindfulness and self-compassion.
Learning Objectives:
Dr. Nancy Haug is a Professor in the Department of Psychology at Palo Alto University. She is core faculty in the PGSP-Stanford Psy.D. Consortium, and Adjunct Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Stanford University School of Medicine. Dr. Haug is a licensed psychologist in California and maintains a small private practice with specialization in the treatment of alcohol/substance use disorders and eating disorders. She has clinical expertise in evidence-based treatments such as motivational interviewing, cognitive-behavioral and mindfulness-based therapies such as ACT and DBT.

This is a District Meeting coordinated by the Mid-Peninsula District.
This DISTRICT MEETING meets the qualifications for 1.5 hours of continuing education credit for MFTs, LPCCs, LEPs and/or LCSWs as required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences.
Note: With supervisor approval, registered ASWs may use CEs toward LCSW hours.
