Presenter: Nancy A. Haug, PhD
Description: The presentation will include an overview of the Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) model of intervention which includes six core processes: being present, clarifying values, committed action, self-as-context, defusion and acceptance. We will discuss the essence of ACT work with clients using an ACT case conceptualization. Practical ACT strategies and clinical tools will be explained with a focus on experiential learning.

About the Presenter:
Dr. Nancy Haug is Professor and Associate Chair in the Department of Psychology at Palo Alto University. She is core faculty in the PGSP-Stanford Psy.D. Consortium, and Adjunct Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Stanford University School of Medicine. Dr. Haug maintains a private practice in San Jose, CA with specialization in the treatment of addictive behaviors and eating disorders. She has clinical expertise in evidence-based treatments such as motivational interviewing, cognitive-behavioral and mindfulness-based therapies.
LOCATION INFORMATION:
The meeting room is on the third floor next to the cafe with free parking below the building. Take the Main Elevator. Meeting time is 12-2:00 PM with the first 15 minutes reserved for signing in and networking. The presentation starts at 12:15 PM following announcements.
This course meets the qualifications for 1.5 hours of continuing education credit for MFTs, LPCCs, LEPs and/or LCSWs as required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences.
Note: With supervisor approval, registered ASWs may use CEs toward LCSW hours.
