Description:

Schema Therapy, developed by Dr. Jeffrey Young, is an integrative, creative, well-researched therapeutic approach for healing deep wounds and replacing entrenched behavior patterns with new and successful coping strategies.

In the 25 years since its inception ST has evolved tremendously, and is now an evidence based therapy that is the gold standard for treating individuals with borderline personality disorder in the Netherlands. The integrative nature of the model, it’s theoretical depth and practical applicability has proven that it is conceptually robust and effective in helping a wide range of individuals.

This presentation shares our passion for Schema Therapy through education about the conceptualization and strategies, experiential examples, role-plays, client cases and more.

Objectives:

  1. Learn how Schema Therapy “liberates” the traumatized child ‘living” inside the adult.
  2. Actively explore 18 well - defined Schema’s, as a way to conceptualize the impact of childhood trauma, and learn how therapist’s benefit from knowing and managing their own schemas.
  3. Experience the power of Schema Therapy through experiential examples of how it’s effectively used with clients.
  4. Discover clinical strategies used to heal schemas to include: limited re-parenting, audio flashcards, mode work, schema change and the use of emotion-focused change techniques.

*In addition, the presentation offers resources to learn how to provide Schema Therapy, ways to earn additional CEU’s while learning about the model, and information to become a Certified Schema Therapist.
