About the Presenters:
Perry Rankin is a 57 year-old married, licensed clinical social worker, 2002 graduate of California State University, Fresno who has been working with homeless, disabled American Veterans since 2014. Prior to that he worked thirteen years indirectly with a branch of the California Department of Mental Health known as The Conditional Release Program serving the counties of Fresno, Madera, Tulare, and Kings. This was a forensic program serving special classes of people suffering from mental health issues that got them in trouble with the law. It was designed to socialize the criminally insane back into the community. Prior to this, Perry did case management with Madera County Mental Health, Tulare Youth Services Bureau. Perry was a member of the California Forensic Mental Health Association for thirteen years.
Before getting involved in social work, Perry spent seventeen years as a Capuchin Franciscan friar, a special order of the Catholic Church (known as the Marines of the Catholic Church), devoted to difficult missions in the world. While living as a friar he devoted himself to serving the poor and marginalized. Perry spent five years as a missionary to Northern Mexico and is fluent in Spanish.
