San Diego District
Presenter Name: Eric Frank, LCSW
Description of presentation: Brief Therapy was originally conceived to with 3 main goals in mind: 1) to find quick and efficient means for resolving complaints and problems presented by clients; 2) transform therapy from an art into a craft that could be easily taught; and 3) to study change in human systems. Over the last 45 years, Brief Therapy has evolved and contributed in the direct development many of the therapeutic approaches currently being used today. Its innovation and effectiveness encouraged best practices as well as the thinking for designing evidenced based treatment. Brief Therapy has been used to treat the individual, the couple, the family, and even broader systems, such as corporations or businesses. This workshop will hopefully remind us that we all “stand on the shoulder’s of giants” and that the art and science of Brief Therapy is applicable even in our current context.
