Presentation by: Mick Rogers, LCSW MBA
Mick is currently a psychotherapist at UC-Davis Student Health & Counseling Services, while serving as CSCSW’s CE Chair and as a member of it’s Ethics Committee and the Sac Davis District, Mick is also in the dissertation phase of his PhD in Clinical Social Work from Smith College School for Social Work. He was the manager and clinical director of Sutter Counseling Center’s Child Guidance Clinic and was the Executive Director of St. Louis County Child Mental Health in the 80’s (during the AIDS crises). He served as President of both California’s and Missouri’s Societies for Clinical Social Work.
Mick is a senior clinical social worker who advocates for clinicians to be more comfortable and proficient in accepting their client’s true self by accepting the whole person – including their sexuality.
Learning Objectives:
Participants will:
(1) Be able to explain the PLISSIT model of scope of care,
(2) Identify potential countertransference issues that can get in the way of creating a safe space to discuss sexuality,
(3) Identify how several different diagnostic categories are impacted by their SMI and the meds to treat the SMI,
(4) Develop more clarity on how they want to integrate talking about sexuality into their practice.
Attendees will earn 2 CEs. The presentation is free to CSCSW members. Non-members are charged $20 if they want the CE.
